Spinal bend not-straight bellows

Søren Spætte

New member
Hej,

I am trying to spinal bend a bellows that is molded in a
bent state from the beginning, and I want to bend it even
more.
But whatever I do I cannot get the end surfaces to be
plane!

Any suggestions?

I've done this using a solid model of a bellows and then using the warp command to bend the bellows, you can even have an angle dimension to get the angle you need

Hej, thanks for the quick answers.

The problem is that the bellows is created as pre-bent,
so the 'other' end gets distorted when I
try to bend it.

dr-gallup: What do you mean, variable section sweep? I
have the bellows already, but I do not want
to modify the build of the model for various reasons.

I'll try again to post the pics, it doesn't seem to work
in the first post:

this bellows was made straight and the bend was done later and is controled with an angle dimension. The jpg is a horrible resolution cause it cant upload larger then 50k file

What if you tried making the bellows without the cuffs, just pattern the convolutions of the bellows and warp that using the bend a picking the face of theone end of the bellows, then add the cuffs later on. I can bend my bellows as much as i need and the ends stay planer.

Hm. tried both suggestions (srieger/garymig), no good.
I just get crooked surfaces in different ways.

It is obvious that Pro/E is trying to keep the top surface
'plane', causing the angled surface to get distorted.

Maybe it's just not possible
