Not sure about the ability to add simple text to a repeat region but the way we handle the quantity of a bulk item is to create a repeat region relation. Table>Repeat Region>Relations. Looks like this:
You can also enter simple text in a repeat region using the "comment" feature. I use the "comment" feature of a repeat region to refer to a particular general note when the note applies to that particular item. Maybe you can explore the use of "comments" to enter simple text.
