Running Proe on a external HD or USB Key

Hi there,

Do you think it's possible?
Floating licence, Flexlm will be configured with the varous
PC MAC adress.
Any suggestions?

KRgds,

It is possible to run ProE from a usb hardisk. But license
will be a problem. Licenses are using Network card's MAC
ID. If you use different pc (and different network card)
you will not be able to use same licenses.
A option could be to put a floating license on a windows
virtual pc that you have as image on your usb harddisk.
Or you can run ProE with license in windows virtual pc.
You will need to have a in dept knowledge of ProE
installation and license setup.
Another question are if this setup are legal.

As long as every machine you plug the hard drive on can see the license server it should run no problem. I never install Pro/E on workstations, only on server and mount the drive on the workstation, pretty much the same thing.

I do modify the PATH environment variable to include the loadpoint/bin directory but that is just to run other PTC batch files like purge.bat or ptcstatus.bat. I also put a shortcut to the Pro/E startup batch file on the desktop so you may need to do these steps on each machine you move the drive to.

Many thanks for your reply.
I will try tomorrow and let you know if it runs smoothly.
KRgds,
