Hei guys.

I got some budget to spent on a proper work station to run
Pro E and 3DS MAX...

I did not find any "list" of recommended hardware to build up your
Pro E / CAD "dream machine".

Any suggestions?
RAM - GFX-card - screen - etc.

processor: quad core intel xeon, but you wont get full use of it unless running other apps simultaneously
ram: 2g+ min, 4 is better, (corsair?)
card: quadro, best you can afford
screen: dell 24" works nice, you might as well make sure you have HDCP so you can play those HD movies later

cheers,

M

Of course I wont watch HD movies at work ;)

But thats a start - thanks.

Do you think that a quad core cpu will be used by the software?
I am not sure about the OS... Vista 64? Or is XP 32 enough?

I run Pro E and Max often at the same time...

For the same money, you can buy a faster core duo processor than a quad core. Unless you have money to burn I would go that way. Unfortunately, the hardware has got ahead of the softwares ability to use multiple cores. That should change in the future but how long?

I would stay with XP 32 unless you need more than 4 GB of RAM. Definitely get 4 GB.

Dual 20" screens is sounding good to me but I use a 24".

BTW, PTC does have a list of certified hardware, I would stick to the list.

For 4GB of ram you need a 64bit OS.
Windows can't use more then 3.x GB in 32bit mode.
Hit google and you'll find a lot about that.

Thanks Guys!

I will probably go fot a 2x quad core Xeon as it is not super expensive.

4GB Ram will be there and min a Quaddro FX 1700 or better.
