Re-naming files

SW

New member
I've re-named a part file and now when I try and open its previously
defined drawing I get the message "Model is not in directory". The only
option is "OK, and then Pro/E doesn't bother opening the drawing. Is
there a way to fix this and re-specify which model is in the drawing
without having to re-name the part to its original name, then re-name
it again while the drawing is in session?

Thanks,

Sam

No. That's the way to fix it though. Then do the rename of the part with the drawing in session and make sure you save the drawing too. It used to be really simple to edit the drawing file in a text editor to fix the problem but now they have parts of it compressed so it's not that simple anymore.

You might try changing the name back so it will resolve.

Renaming is hazardous to your hairline. Find and open all referencing docs prior to renaming then save all referencing docs.

To go off a tangent: I often make assembly and detail type drawings (drawing references the assembly, sub assemblies and parts). I've thought about making simp reps (only a sub assy or single part included) in the top assembly and referencing the reps instead of "add model". Anyone doing that?

afterthought ... I'm not using any PDM software, single user.
