Path Mate not working with Wrapped curve

GuyM

New member
Hello,

(Using WinXP 32bit, & SolidWorks 2008 SP5)

I wrapped a sketch round a cylinder-surface and cut it, then used a 3D sketch to create a curve from the resulting surface. I have been trying to implement a path mate using a point on another component that coincides with the curve on my cylinder, for some reason it is not working.

Has anyone else had this problem and/or know of a solution to fix it?

Additionally - I posted this in the animation part, though it probably should be in the Modelling forum, any ideas:

Jerky manula move component:

I have an assembly with lots of LimitDistance mates in it, (& a few path mates). When I move components in the assembly, they jump/jerk suddenly to particular places. Also I notice that the limit distance conditions I set up suddenly swap around (I think this is the solidworks option that automatically adjusts mates when it thinks you want to flip dimension or position).

Has anyone else had this problem and/or know of a solution to fix it?

Thanks

Guy

GuyM,

1. What exactly is the geometry in the sketch that you have wrapped around the cylinder? Have you verified that it is contiguous?

2. Sounds like some of the constraints are conficting, and/or the model is underconstrained.

If these questions are related to the same model, can you share geometry/pictures? It's difficult to troubleshoot assembly mates without seeing ther actual geometry because constraint issues arealmost 100% geometry specific.
