Thanks

Route keep in = Routing Outline = This defines the general area on the PCB for routing. This should be e.g. the outline of the PCB minus 0.5 mm as a safety, so that no routing is done too close to the edge of the PCB. One per PCB side.

Place keep in = Placement
Outline
= This defines the general area on the PCB for placing components. This should be
e.g. the outline of the PCB minus 0.3 mm as a safety, so that components do not stick out over the edges of the PCB. One per PCB side.
Route keep out = Defines areas within the routing outline in which no routing is allowed.

Via keep out = Defines areas in which no vias are allowed.

Place region = areas in which components are allowed. Height can be defined.

Place keep out = areas in which components are not allowed.

Important note: Avoid having areas inside other areas (except inside routing outline and placement outline) to avoid import problems for the board layouter. E.g. if you have a rectangular area where placing of components is allowed, and in the middle a small area where placing is not allowed, define the outer area as 2 separate ECAD areas, so you don't have the inner area lying inside the outer area. Because if you do have them on top of eachother, the inner area has 2 definitions!

Important note: I have a customer, where place keep out regions without a height defined get imported as place keep out regions, but place keep out regions with a height defined get imported as place region areas! So be VERY aware, that areas might change their type when exchanging data. The only way to be sure about how the different areas are imported is to simply create very simple separate parts with each different area and have the customer import them and tell you as which area they got imported.
