Modeling Tube Chassis

I am working on a FSAE car and saw a couple of threads regarding this subject. But I am using mostly 0.049 and 0.065wall 1" OD tube and want a dimensionally sound model which is why I cannot use the insert>advanced>piping command. So can some one point me into the direction I need to go and possibly a good book that would teach me how to do this. I am framiliar with Wildfire 2.0 but not an expert, so please remember this when replying.
