the end where the cord goes will need to be a revolve and perfectly round right?I would have used a tool surface there and forced all my other geometry tangent to that tool.

yeap, it is revolved, but this is pretty straight forward to introduce



bigger problem to me is the top and side surface



this is due some strange edges flow in the real example



IMO in real deivce it is done by 5nd boundary because of its strange result in this geometry

in the real example the intersection is seems to be a conic arc with high RHO

I created your mirror using top down design and split it into a multitude of parts... and made the classic mistake by not saving the skeleton part. Guess Ill rebuild it ;)
