modeling bayonet connector

I need to make a model of a bayonet type connector. BNC
cable connectors are a type of bayonet connector.

Can anyone tell me what the best way to make the slanting
slot in the barrel piece? Would you use trajpar or what?
Maybe I'm just being retarded, but an as easy as it seems
like it should be way of doing it isn't coming to mind
for me at the moment...

Here are some pics of the things. It's the slot that I'm
looking for an elegant way of making.

Its rolled sheetmetal right?And the cut was created int he flat then rolled. Use those exact tools in pro/SHEETMETAL.Are you making the connectors routable for Pro/CABLE?

If you do not want to use Pro/SHEETMETAL then you can extrude a surface... project your j-shape onto the cylinder wall... trim surface... then thicken the surface and 'wa-la'... the cut is normal tot he surface like a sheetmeal rolled feature.

I looked at your part and that part was clearly modeled for representation only. Which is all you really need if the connector is store bought anyway.Notice how the j-hook cut are simple extrudes and not sheetmetal cuts that form normal to the surface of the wall.

most connectors are created cosmetically and for representation only.
 
I'm actually making a little different bayonet connection
from as in BNC connector. I'm making end caps for some
tubes like shown below. For the time being, I've just
gone with crudely making a revolve cut for one leg of the
slot, an extrusion in to form the other leg, and then a
circle extruded radially (wrt to the tube) to form the
divet at the end of the slot.

I want to come back and to a more proper one where the
depth of the slot exactly matches the pin that will be
running in it. I'll have to sand down/shape the tips of
the pins for this first version to match these slots
since they aren't exactly correct.

Anyway, now I have a more basic question: How can I get
the matching slot for the other side (as in BNC) of the
tube using mirror or something? I basically need to
mirror the thing about one plane and then mirror the
result about another plane to get the slot I need. But
if I do two separate mirrors then I get 3 slots, of
course, when I only want the second one.
