Material Properties Causing M050 to Crash

This is an intermittent bug. Sometimes when I assign a part a material property that part file will become corrupt. If I try to open that part then ProE will evaporate. The crashing of corrupt file is consistent but which files become corrupt is not consistent. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Any work arounds?
