mass problems pro_mp_mass [solved]

Hello all,

I cannot believe ProE is soooo hard on giving some
simple and basic information such as mass !!! (I'm on WF
2.0)

I tried several fixes proposed on some of the topics
around here but I didn't found the appropriate one for
my problem.

I want to display the parameter pro_mp_mass in my model
tree so that I always know the mass of every part in my
assembly. Problem is that the parameter displays some
kind of fancy values like a part weighs 29 tons instead
of 400 kg.

If I run a model analysis (computed method) I always
have the good mass value though. But this is less useful
to me because like I said, I want to display in the
model tree of an assembly the mass of each part at the
same time.

So I really don't know why it's so hard to have proper
mass values in ProE but it is really annoying for sure.

Any tips on how to always display proper mass values in
the model tree guys ?

Thank you very much !

I have some clue though on where those the fancy values
come from. I can obtain the same values if I run a model
analysis and choose the "assigned" method.

Does the pro_mp_mass parameter always refer to this
value ? I don't think so. I already succeeded to make it
display good values ... unless I actually made the
"assign" method giving the same values as the
"calculate" method.

How can I have control on the value that is displayed in
the model tree ? What is the exact difference between
the two method and the associated parameters within
proe. (the names seem pretty explanatory but well ...)

as far as I know - such problems can occur with simp reps and family table instances, where mass is driven by generic(after regeneration/verifing it updates in instances)

Go to Edit > Setup > Mass Props and make sure that you have the correct desity value entered, its looking for the Relative density (specific gravity) which means relative density with respect to water.

If this is not set correct then your vaules will be wrong.

What you can also do is to set this value in the config mass_property_calculate. This will claculate the mass properties everytime you regen so if your still modifying then it will update all the time, it does take a little longer but its up to you what way you want it set up.

It also sounds like you may need to check the units. The unit system mmNs will give a mass in tonnes and mmKs will give a mass in kg. Choose Edit>Setup>Units>Info to see whatunits your values are in. You can also switch to a unit system that will allow you to enter the density in units you are familiar with and when you switch to another unit system the density value should change accordingly. Another thing to remember is that the units are simplified so they may not appear in a form you are use to seeing.

Ok guys,

I finally solved my problem by changing the value of the
parameter mass_property_calculate to "automatic" and
regenerate the model
