Fork

I have modellated with pro-e a fork.
I designed the sections x
and then I used the boundary surface
to connect the different sections.
the model looks ok!!!!
but then i have exported the file .stl in moldflow
Plastics insight 6.1, and a lot of problems are started.
Because i'd like do similution with 2 or 4 cavities. But
the model, after 3d meshing, have 1.652.587 elemets and
my pc with 3GB of RAM is not able to do simulations and
it's so slow.
My boss said me that the problem is in the model..
because i have created radius and so
the mesh creates more thetra than the necessary..
Please, can smb help me?
it's my first project..

Thanks a lot

if you remove small radii (.030 - .050") or those that are much smaller than part geometry or thickness and leave sharp edges, it allows fewer tetra elements to be created. I'd imagine a 1.6 million element model would take 12+ hrs to process (depending on software and hardware configurations).

Once you clean up your model for analysis, you can export a new STL, which should have fewer elements and generate a smaller model.

Note: you can also play with your STL export settings. If you make the edge length larger, it may clean up some small radii for you.

good luck
