Drawing Layers

Whenever i create an asm drawing, the notes(Item No.) i insert are moving to 3DNOTES Layer and the get disappeared. What need to be done to see that the notes should not go to this layer automatically.

I had that happen once. Freaked me out.
I don't know what I did to make it happen.
No def_layer, rule or layer explicitly created by me.
?Maybe trying to figure out some view visibility command?
I think I simply deleted the layer and all was well from there on.

There is a config option (def_layer) that causes specified drawing items to be automatically placed on a layer. That might be your problem.

I came across it in thePro/E help whilst searching for something else a while back. Not entirely sure how it works but do a search for "def_layer" in the detailing module.

If I were going to dig into this I'd ...
_ Search config.pro (look in loadpoint, home directory and working directory)
for the layer name and remove or comment any def_layer statement that you
find. Look also in config.sup(?) if it exists.
_ See if there's a rule based layer in a template.

I assume the layer is being blanked. I believe there is a config option to
blank layers when a file is opened. Maybe you just want to remove or comment
that instead of avoiding layer creation.

When you figure it out please post back. I'd forgotten about the occurance
I'd had, would be interesting to understand what's going on.
