Datum Curve to Helical Sweep?

JimiH

New member
Hello

I am trying to sweep along a selected trajectory by selecting a datum sketch (created on a flat plane) and the edge of a surface (created by a helical sweep)

The helical sweep has the datum curve as a reference so there are no gaps.

However proe throws an "Specified trajectory is not valid. Please reselect"

What Im trying to model is a rope tied in a noose (dont ask

)

Just thought it would be difficult to model which it is.

Is this what you want to achive? if so, one way to solve it is to use another curve between the "helical surf" and your sketch. I did a free curve in isxd, then just a VSS to show what i mean.

Yes VSS fails, think its the tangency between the helical surface and the sketch.

Suppose you would have the identical problem modeling a cork screw.

A straight curvegoing into a helical sweep going back to a straight curve
