Creo 2.0 Download today

It's been up for at least a week. I'm waiting for the DVD, never had any luck with the downloads.

I don't get too excited about new functions because old license holders usually don't get any.

the new 2D sketcher, CREO Sketch, is apparently free -
wonder if it uses Menu Manager

Creo Sketch has been available since Creo 1.0. It is based on some of the functionality that was available in Pro/Concept.

The new 2D app is Creo Layout. Looks like it intention is to replace other 2D cad programs.

mgnt8: stop over this week and leme show you what I thinks cool.

I think people on this forum like to remain on top of whats new and to boot I'm most excited to have higher order curves using any software. To obtain more control over curves is something I have strived for using any software for 15 years.

In Alias Auto Studio you can convert from a 3 degree curve down to a 2 degree curve y=x^2 i.e. in a one span curve you only have one CV in the curve. And in the same respect you can convert to a higher order curve like a five degree curve or y=x^5 (or higher) in order to obtain more shape from a single span curve without adding an extra knot to the curve geometry. This allows the resultant surfaces to not have extra isoparms (alias speak) or extra knot in the polynomial like you get with 3 degree curves in Solidworks or in the Alias Studio.

This type of curve generation is exciting only for those trying to obtain specific light reflections in an A class surface such as the back of the iphone 1.0 or ipad or auto interiors / exteriors.

I bet Solidworks will take 2+ years to obtain higher order curve generation.

the main reason someone needs higher degree curves and
surfaces is the ability to attain G3 and up (between
curves/surfaces) which is not implemented in creo 2.0 yet.
solidworks is no longer interested in surfacing plus they
are too busy migrating to catia kernel.

open house today at lunch at Design engine showing off Creo 2.0 with one of the PTC VARS. We have loads of PIZZA. Stop over.

Bart, thanks for showing me Freestyle and higher degree Style curves

One of the few times I can actually say I can't wait to get to work on Monday so I can startsome SubD modeling

Hi Bart,

Will look at Creo2 when I get back from holiday in June. No conference
this year :(

Saw you do a surfaces presentation back in 2010 (was over my head) but would be
great to have such expertise available locally in NZ. We can get standard
training but with such a small user base it is hard to get support in
specialist areas and typically you need a real expert to

Now they're saying that F001 is available for download. Seemsodd to have another datecode come out so soon.

Anybody know what that's about?

Is there apage to explain what's changed/improved/fixed?

It's going to get cumbersome real fast if they expect us to keep up with new datecodes every two weeks

Creo 2 F001 is not in update advisor so hard to say. Must be something pretty major for them to do that so soon.

I heard, that in F001 an uninstall issue has been fixed.
