Create lip

For some reason I'm not able to create the most simple sheetmetal part
To create the lip I have to start with a thin cut!?! I should not have to, should I?

I also did the same way. The width of the cut should be enough to clear for lip tip when bending.

For one feature is ok to use for bending. But I found (in WF2) bending feature can not pattern.

So that I used Forming (Die) to get pattern such feature.

Hi ProePeter,

I just wanted to ask how you created this lip because I even don't know how to create it.

Thanks,

Regards

1. Insert -> Bend Operation -> Deform Area -> sketch closed section

2. Insert -> Shape -> Rip -> Edge Rip -> choose edges to rip

3. Insert -> Bend Operation -> Bend -> use not ripped edge as a bend line

Regards.

Using a tool with punch or die (Form Feature) is much
better for this feature. As for manufacturing you can use
Flatten Form to get your blanks. An example of making form
is explained in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?
v=HgM8EphVVu4&feature=channel_page.
The video explains creating a RIB but the process is same.
