Converting .sec file into .prt format

Hi,
I am an absolute novice at Pro engineer. I have basically
been trying to create the 2D profile of the Porsche 911
GT3 RS in Pro Engineer. I clicked on creating a new part,
however by the time I had finished and wanted to save the
the file as a .prt file (to be able to then import into
Ansys) for some reason the file is being saved as a .sec
file. I have search through tutorials and forum on the
net to try to resolve this issue. The problem i am
finding is that there is no "check" icon on the bottom
right hand side to be able to finalised the design. If
anyone could help it would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Welcome to the community!

If you save while still in the sketcher Pro/E will save as .sec
To have a .prt you need to exit the sketcher before saving.
(One use for saving in .sec format is to share sketches between different models, just like importing a dxf into the sketcher.)

I'm not sure how Ansys will read the prt if you only have a sketch in it but to create just a planar surface you can use "Fill" (click on the sketch in the model tree, then under edit meny click on "fill")

Hope this helps
regards
/Anders
