Changing the Splash Screen.
Ever wanted to change the standard splash image when you start Pro/ENGINEER? Follow the steps below to do just that.<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" />

1.

   <LI =Msonormal style="MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt; mso-margin-top-alt: auto; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; tab-stops: list 36.0pt">Name it COM_SPLASH.GIF. This is important. </LI>
   <LI =Msonormal style="MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt; mso-margin-top-alt: auto; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; tab-stops: list 36.0pt">Replace the original COM_SPLASH file with the new one. The original file is found at ptc/proe2001/text/resource (or similar). </LI>
   <LI =Msonormal style="MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt; mso-margin-top-alt: auto; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; tab-stops: list 36.0pt">You may want to keep the original gif image, so just place it in another folder or rename it for now. That's it. </LI>

I always use a (much) smaller resolution. That way the splash screen does not get in the way for doing other things (like reading e-mail) when Pro/E is starting up.

You see the Pro/E startup screen for less than minute everyday! You should praly stay away from marriage!

We did a fun prank to one of the guys here. Made different splash files so it looked like he launched another program.

Guess if he was surprised first time, launching Pro/E and got the splash from AutoCad

We changed it every day to confuse him. Last plan was to run an animated .gif but that stopped Pro/E from running so we made that his default homepage in IE instead.


That animation was a compilation of all the splash screens he had seen during the week and rounded up with an image of him self with the text like "I've been pranked"
