bending a flat flex cable

using RSD and Pro/CABLE or using a sweept solid across a trajectory?

The first way: What I have done in the past to some success is to route the first wire/conductor Using RSD then the other parts using location. This makes a nice looking cable that resembles a ribbon or flex cable. Its not perfect but it works.

the second Ill use relations to make the flex cable specified specific length so when the door opens the flex cable becomes taut to flex with a bezel or door of some kind.First create your curve structure like the bounding box technique so the cable is most flexible. Extrude as surface then solidify that (or in one step but it's not as flexible)
 
Are you familiar at least with Pro/CABLE?

The second method listed above works quite well without Pro/CABLE and RSD combo but the pin call outs will not display correctly and you'll have to write in dumb variables into the tables.
 
We don't have a license for that either. We kind of have to do things the old-fashioned way with points, curves, and swept protrusions. Very time-consuming.
 
Did you try Pro/SHEETMETAL ???If your patient you can lock the length dimensions using relations and bend the flex cable back and forth so the length stays the same no matter where the flex cable is within it's reach.

I've done flexcable with sheetmetal. It didn't have to move, just offer flexible connection from the main PC-board to components located elsewhere in the assembly. Although you have to do everything by hand it offers the advantage that you can evaluate interference and you end up with a part that can be unbent to give to the circuitry-chaps.
