Anyone use a tablet to mark drawings?

I am looking for an electronic way to mark drawings for revision.

This could be within Pro/E. But many would be PDF's

Anyone use one of those wacom tablets to do this?

i am not sure about the actual problem facing you.
but i think this will help you.

if you have acrobat adobe PDF writer 7 then

1) make the drawings in draft mode.
2)then select adobe PDF writer in the printer selection.
3)print the drawings in PDF
4)now Adobe 7 has options to electronically book mark.


i think this solves the problem.

I am able to create the PDF file, and I can mark the drawings in Adobe.


But this is typed text and sketched lines, which is time consuming.


I would like to use a tablet to freehand the markings and sketches.


Does anyone currently do this? And is it easy to do with a Wacom type tablet pen

The easiest thing that comes to mind is to open the .pdf in Photoshop, make a new layer (or 2 or 3) and use the brush tool to freehand your markings.

You might also look into Painter and Alias Sketchbook Pro. These are the apps that I know play well with tablet input.

I am trying to find something better to use then a Mouse...
As using a mouse is not easy to freehand anything.

My original question is using a Wacom type tablet to mark drawings.

Does this work ok.

There is no way that I know of to use your tablet to create markups WITHIN PRO/E. I suggested Photoshop, Painter, and Alias Sketchbook Pro because I know that these programs work well with a tablet and I know you can get your drawings into these programs.

I understand your comment about freehanding with a mouse. It's next to impossible.

Please clarify your question and I'll try to answer it better.

You might check out eDrawings, too. I know it has markup features but I don't know if (or how well) it works with a tablet.

So you want to draw freehand linework in Acrobat with your tablet? Are you having trouble getting your tablet working in Acrobat? It seems like you should be able to select the pencil tool and sketch away, just like you can with the mouse.

Ah, ok. I don't have a tablet so I can't say for sure. When I do markups of pdf's I just use Illustrator. In acrobat you can always use the text tool for text then draw in leaders with pencil tool using the mouse.

If I needed to any drawings that required a tablet, I would be using Acrobat. I would either draw on paper and scan or fire up Photoshop/Painter/ASBP.

From what I've heard about tablets, most people that use that don't complain about the tablet, but rather any lag in the computer. That said, you should get feedback from someone who has first hand experience.

Thats what I was looking for..

I do own a Tablet PC. (Laptop) and I use this with the pen all the time. But this is for personal use.

I was wondering if I could get the same feel with a Wacom Tablet Pen

From what I understand, yes, you can get the Tablet PC feel from an external tablet.
