From the PTC Detail manual: Although drawing views do not have individual layers for each view, you can control the display status of drawing layers for individual views by overriding the model layer status.
I have a part with a feature cut-out in it or an assembly, and a separate view of the part or assembly in the drawing mode. Back in assembly mode I have a layer suppressing or resuming that part or assembly. I need the layer to also control the view of said part or assembly in the drawing.
