Check the new functionality in cross sectioning, you could create a section in a part or assy and take away material at the cross section w/o having to do a cut to the model/assy.
No, just that you can either show the cross section the traditional way or you can go into display, set visible and clip the model where the cross section is. To do this previously you would have to do a cut in assy to cut away half the model for ex.
