WF 2 - Browser Options - How to save....

Hello all.

We've just recently migrated from 2001 to WF 2. We need to go
into Browser Options>Advanced>Proxies and enter the Proxy and
Port data for each session. Pressing o.k. does not seem to save
these settings.

As you can imagine, this is getting a little tedious - does anyone know of a way to save these settings.

We're running on UNIX system (Solaris 10).

Thanks,

Lee

Hey leemcdermott,

I have used UNIX before but never with Pro/Engineer. This is something I found on the PTC support site.

--Start PTC Help--

Setting Browser Options on UNIX Machines

If you work on a UNIX machine, the Pro/ENGINEER browser settings are stored in the ptc-browser profile. You can access browser options using Browser Options on the Tools menu.

Click Tools > Browser Options. The Browser Options dialog box opens.

Set the options as desired.

Note: Click Help on the Browser Options dialog box to access Mozilla online help. You can refer to the Cutsomizing Mozilla section for specific information.

When finished making changes, click OK to accept the changes and close the dialog box.

Note: If you have more than one Pro/ENGINEER session running, only one session is allowed to store its browser options to the hard disk.

--End PTC Help--

I know already know how to set the browser options per your post but make sure wherever this "ptc-browser" file is being stored you have write permissions to the directory. With Windows Pro/E you can make settings changes (toolbars, config.pro,...etc.) but they are only temporary if you do not have write permissions to the directory where the settings file are stored. You also may have to give the Mozilla directory full write permissions. I always give myself full permissions to the Pro/E installation directory.

I hope this helps, if not reply. Even better, since I don't know about Pro/E in UNIX, I hope it applies to your problem. Thanks.
