Tolerances

Hello,

This is not a question specific to Pro-e,but can anyone clarify with if possible an example what is meant by tolerance stack calculations.

Thank you,

sudhish

Simple case: you have the lenght of two parts that mate, the assembled length is the sum of the two parts and the tolerance is the sum of the two tolerances.

25+/-.005
+15+/-.010
---------
40+/-.015

Some times the lengths subtract but the tolerances always add:

40+/-.005
-15+/-.010
---------
25+/-.015

It gets much more complicated when you have geometric tolerances or are doing statistical analysis. You'll need a text book for that.

Thank You Mr. David Gallup.

Can you suggest a simple text book for a little more complicated stuff as you had mentioned.

Thanking you Once again,

Sudhish
