Tips or tricks?

Just wondering if anyone would have any tips or tricks on speeding up ncl generation within Pro/E?

Thanks.

One thing that speeds up NCL file generation a lot, is only select the surfaces you need for NC_CHECK surfaces. If you have Add Ref Prts selected it can significantly slow down generation on complex models. Don't forget to ALWAYS have you machined surface selected as a check surface. Several config.pro settings affect check surface default selection, they are chk_part_surfs_profpock and mfg_auto_ref_prt_as_chk_srf.

Use as loose of a TOLERANCE as you can to do the work you need, there is no reason to set TOLERANCE to 5e-05 if .001 will do.

Using SCALLOP_HGT instead of STEP_OVER has an impact on file generation also. The more complex the surface the harder Pro has to work to compute the CL file if SCALLOP_HGT is used. The down side to only using STEP_OVER is that it may take you several tries to get the step over adjusted to meet you surface finish requirements.

Make sure STORE_TOOL_PATH_FILE is either set to YES or not used in your config.pro file. The default is YES.

If you can set up ProBatch then you can have another machine compute toolpaths while you work on other things, check out prorembatch_queue_manager and it's description in your help files and you config.pro descriptions.
