time stamp in 3D model

Hi all,
I'd like to have a time stamp (a parameter) in my part and assembly templates that would return the date of creation of the model. Just like &todays_date does in a drawing.
We use Windchill so we do have the parameter ptc_wm_created_on that partly does it, but it includes the time (which we don't want) and the date format is not the one we want. So perhaps there is a way of converting it to format YYYY-MM-DD...
Any clues?
Thanks,
Mathieu

good question. Windchill does that time stamp. I have a workflow I call 'time stamp' using surfaces (surface copy) and top down design & Publish Geometry that I teach but it does a different thing than your request. Im curios if we get any responses from this question.
