Start parts location

Start parts need to be in a folder pointed to by these config.pro option:

start_model_dir <a network disk location outside the loadpoint is my choice>

template_solidpart <name of your start part>

template_designasm <name of your assembly startpart>

I also keep a set of formats and start parts in PDMlink.

The reason to put the start parts outside PDMLink as your masters is that they won't be copied into the workspace when pulled from outside. This way your users cannot modify the company standard start part files in their own workspaces.

Ben,
thanks for your valuable input!

Interesting point - "start parts outside PDMLink as your masters is that they won't be copied into the workspace"

From what I understand by storing - start parts outside of pdm users will be able to pull them even if server is down , another advantage.

Immigrating to PDMLink soo much fun ??

When you place start parts on a disk and use the config.pro options remember that the path MUST be an absolute path (no system variables)! For some deeply philosophical reason, some config.pro options work with variables and others don't ....
