Shading a specific area of a part - How?

I need to indicate on a drawing an area of a part that is to be induction hardened. How can I add a shaded area to indicate where it is required? I tried creating a surface in the model but I don't want it to appear in all views.

For the model, if the area of interest is a complete surface, you couldcolor thatsurface different from the rest of the part.

For the drawing, youcouldsketch the hardened area on the appropriate view and relate the sketch to that view.

Or use cosmetic feature with or with out cross hatch. I find with cosmetics it is a lot easier to control visibility in drawing views and assemblies than datum curves.
