round of dimension

hi all





i have this problem with rounding off the dimension having tolerance on it.


if in 'Dimension Properties' window i put 'Number of decimal places' 0 then tolerace also changes to 0.


please help

it is true
Pro\e take the accuracy of tolerance in the same way as dim value. I can say more. If You change decimal place in dims from model, don`t be supprised if Your model change aslo. Because with dicreasing decimal place value Pro]e change also the real value of dimension not only this one which is shown in drawing. Hold this before Your eyes when you are dealing with decimal place.

How ever You can still put the tolerance in Text Editor

The standard for dimensioning is that the dimension and the tolerance on that dimension must contain the same number of decimal places. So the issue of trailing zeros, is a not a concern as long as the number of decimal places for the dimension and tolerance are the same. Example: 2.35+/-.010 is not correct, it should be either 2.350+/-.010 or 2.35+/-.01, with the latter preferred. According to ASME Y14.5M-1994.

Dear Sanjeev,


Please check whether your model is an ANSI model or an ISO model. The default is ANSI. Try setting it to ISO model and then try again.


To change: Edit>setup>tol setup>standard> ISO/DIN.


My settings are:


config.dtl--->


lead_trail_zeros = metric


tol_display = yes


config.pro --->


tol_display = yes


tol_mode = nominal


tolerance_standard = iso


maintain_limit_tol_nominal = no.


and this is how it looks...

you are not getting my question. my problem is when i try to round off the dimension by giving value '0' in 'Number of decimal places'. the tolerance also gets round off.

Dear Sanjeev,


Why do you want to round off driving dimensions !!!!. You might as well give a rounded value for the dimension. e.g if your measured value is 51.236 and you wish to round it off to 0 decimal places, you might as well change the value to 51. The tolerance values can still remain to 3 or 4 decimal places.

these dimensions are drawing dimension ie. these dimensions are not driven form model (show/erase) so i cannot change the value.


and sorry buddy i can not mail you the part or drawing as it is against company rules

So change the model and the dimensions will change too. Have a talk with the designer, let him/her know about the problem and if he/she says OK change the model. Otherwise that may be the designer intent.

The model drives the drafting dimensions. Models should always be defined to the nominal size of the part and then toleranced to obtain fit and/or allow manufacturing leeway.
