reconciling family tables

8675

I have 2 family tables from 2 different, INTRALINK 3.4 databases that have the same name for the generic. In trying to reconcile them, one table has more parameters than the other, and both tables have some instances with the same name, and additional instances.

Anyone have any experience with this?

Decide which generic you want and modify it for all combinations of the instances.

There is no easy way that I am aware of.

How you reconcile themfundamently depends on the nature of the two family tables (FTs).

If the models in the two FTs are totally un-related, you can rename the generic and any members containined in it having name conflicts with the other FT and then check in.

If the models are the same and the only differences are columns and instances in it, you can only maunally merge the two family tables before check in. For example,

1. check in the first family table

2. Check out the first FT.

3. Make the changes to the FT in Pro/E to add extra columns contained in the second FT and adding instances only appear in the second FT.

4. Check in the new FT.

In any case, this is a manual process.

Good luck,
