Dear Friends,

I have lot of points in x,y,z coordinates in text file ie in notepad. How to read this points in ProE.I think, for reading the points in ProE, ProE Versioned file required. Is there any way to read this notepad points in ProE?

I don't remember the exact steps but look up ".pts" and ".ibl" in help (try a Global search, all modules). It will tell you how to do it and has examples showing how to format the files.

Rename your txt file to pts and use offset csys ... pick csys and cartesian..xyz vals

read points... need at least one space between values and I think you run into a limit of around hundred at a time.... break it up if you need to

you can hit edit points if you need to and drop your txt into that file

Hai,

you can do this;

>rename the txt file with extension .pts(.ibl will also be excepted)

>create datum points using offset coordinate system-select the coordinate system

>choose import option leads to dailog box to browse the flie select the file just renamed in extension .pts & click ok.

> the datum points will be created reading the values.

Prem

you hit that limit if you read points in with dims...

to read in a larger file you want to use the without dims option... there may be a upper boundry on that but it's well over a thousand points
