ProError reporting incorrect quantity

New member
Has anybody had a problem with ProE reporting and incorrect quantity on the BOM. This particular is very f------ expensive and was almost order twice, and i am ABSOLUTELY SURE that it is not the assembly twice (not suppressed, not excluded, not hidden) but the BOM quantity shows quantity 2 instead of the correct quantity 1. Any suggestions?

Where are all the pro Pro/E gurus? No answers?

I went as far as to search the one instance that shows up, delete it and search it again. it showed quantity zero. I added it back again and DARN if two didn't show up again. PTC just fold, please.

As a test:

If you create a new assembly and just add that problem part, create adrawing for this new assembly does the problem still occur?

Is it a part or subassembly that you are adding?

It's not patterned is it?

Does the part show up on the BOM as two separate instances? or one instance qty 2?

I've seen this happen with the BOM report parameters. In the parts list we have set up we have four parameters we are looking at Material, description, part number, and quantity. What happened in our case was that the parameters were not filled out correctly or not filled out at all. People would copy a part that was similar to another and not change the description or leave the part number blank. So even though they were different parts there was duplicate information in the parameter values so they were grouped together (for example: part number and description were left blank but the material for both parts were the same.)

I have several other assemblies in which this file/part shows up just fine with the correct quantity, but for some reason it is acting a fool now.

it's not patterned, theres only one

one instance quantity two.Tobyk

Are you using an older version of Pro? If so I remember WF1 duplicating items in the BOM on a random basis. The error was fixed in one of ther patchs.

If two different parts have the same description neither one will show a balloon, which sucks buthas turned out to be a safeguard.Maybe i'm misunderstanding what you are saying.

Although you're not able to create a BOM ballon the quantity value in the BOM table was not correct based on the table attributes that were set andbecause the parameters were not modified correctly. It turned out the quantities of two different parts were being added together because not all the information was filled out for the parts (part number had been assigned) but the information that was filled out for both was the same.

I have a balloon, that's what i mean by it's a safeguard. If i wasn't able to place a balloon, i would automatically think "Double Description"; two different items have both the same description. But i have and BOM and balloon agreeing that there are two $4500.00 parts on the drawing however when i search the master rep, i get only one.

Feel about pro/e?....Pro/e is like a women.....You cant live with them but you cant live with out them! LOL.... Could you post some picks of your table and all the repeat regions parameters that you use?

I like it but I don't really have any experience with other programs to say whether or not I would like the way they do things better. There are things that frustrate me just like everyone else. I feel like some of the others here that ProE is what my employer uses so I try to learn it as best I can. I've always felt about any CAD software that there will be things I like and don't like and that I may like how another program does things better.
