We are looking at ordering a new plotter. Is buying the postscript option necessary? or particularily Usefull?

Thanks, Dan

Having a postscipt plotter makes life easier with pro/e but not necessary.

Would reccomend to buy that option. All problems I've had with plotters has been resolved with setting plotter as postscipt in pro/e and skipping all other drivers.

To use a postscript is much better. You can print direct to the printer port on the network without using printserver and windows print manager. I have also made some mapkeys: P4=print active drawing on a A4 paper size, p3 = a3... This way the user do not have also to select papersize in windows printmanager. When use use postscript the printer know what size of paper it should print on since it is included in the print file. Further moreshould be possible to sent a pdf file direct to the printer port without using windows printmanager. This is usefull if you have top print many pdf files with different papaersize. This is just some og the good things with postscript.

Postscript is not necessary but I would not buy a new plotter without it. We keep old revisions of drawings as postscript files. Easy to view, print and distill into PDF.
