Plunge Milling

New member
I am new to the ProE world and having trouble with the plunge milling cycle.I am using WF3 and want to plunge mill with an Iscar Tang milling cutter. I tried the plunge cycle and in the midst of processing the path, it crashed and shut down ProE. Any tips, tricks or suggestions that someone would like to share would be greatly appreciated. I have searched this forum and cannot find a thing on this subject. Does anyone use this feature?

Thanks,

Tim

Tim,

We've found Plunge to be of limited utility. We make trajectories instead because you cannot specify the small delta move at the bottom of the plunge before retract. This causes the tool to rub up the side of the workpiece on the way out, which isn't good for the inserts.
