photo to 3d model??

Hello all,
I was wondering if anybody has tried and/or found a program
worth while that will take pictures from a camera and turn
them into a 3D model that is then editable in a CAD program
such as Pro/E or Creo. I'm asking because we do a load
test, on products that we design, to make sure they meet
osha standards for example. We then take pictures to
document how the test went. I would like to be able to take
those pictures and turn them into a 3d model in pro/e. But
having trouble finding such a program, so I was curious if
it was even possible. Any help would be appreciated!!

"project photofly" from autodesk. input is several photos from different angles. output is a 3d mesh that you'll need to import into your cad program and make surfaces from.

I hadn't heard of the Autodesk version. it sounds a lot like Microsoft's Photosynth. I don't know about Photofly, but Photosynth saves as a point cloud, not a mesh. You'd need to generate a mesh with a program like Meshlab or something. If the Autodesk one goes right to mesh, I'll have to begin seriously looking into it.

Could be a nice quick-and-dirty way to 3D scan!

How accurate 3D model would you like is the key... I been using Range 7 and there is no easy or cheapway to generate workable scanned 3D model. The system is about $100K including softwaresand training.

This is close to a real world of producing 3D engineering model (multiply by 10).

It's fun but a lot of work.
