online help rant

I wish ptc would modify the online help with some easier way to point
out specific pages to others. With the books I could always tell someone to
look at page #-## of the detailing guide.

This specifying link by link treasure hunt is for the birds.

Example.

Starting at the home page choose
"detailed drawings"
Choose it again on the next page.
in the contents choose "Using tables reports..."
choose "creating reports"
choose "about creating reports in drawings...."

The online help would have been a lot more useful if they had used the same graphics as in the books. Those pictures with the pointerswere often all you needed to understand the procedure of creating some difficult features.

I keep my old books from R20 ina safe place

Hey Glenn,

the link for the page you refer to above is

...../Wildfire3/html/usascii/proe/detail/about_creating_repo rts_in_drawing_files.htm

Really easy to determine provided you don't use the PTC browser.

As late as 2001 PTC still made the books (about 50 in total, in up to 9 languages) available in pdf form as a "Documentation" double CD. As an example the Pro/Composite book is below

Quite right. I could have, and have in the past, found that info my self. It's more trouble that quoting links.

I do wish they would go back to paper books. Not going to ever happen.
