No horzontal or vertical extrude

I would like to know how is it possible to make a extrusion like the gray part of the picture. This the front view an the extrusion is not vertical or horizontal.

i dont see what would stop u from sketching that on the front datum
plane. and extruding it. maybe post the top and side views so can
fully grasp what your trying to do
 
It is a flat steel plate. It is like you use a milling to make a rail in this plate

I'm not sure my question is very clear. I will try to explain it better.

I draw the result I want in PROE but the way I did it is not the better one.

I drew it by using the line tool to draw the rectangle. Is it possible to draw a rectangle and rotate it in a right angle directly?
 
ok i understand.

u can do it 1 of 2 ways.

1) u can make a datam axis. running between top and right datum planes.
then make a datum plane throught the axis and @ a angle to a
plane...Then make ur sketch referencing that newly created plane. This
would also mean any further rotation of the plan would make the feature
move too.



2) u can sketch it normally. then drag select everything. edit --->scale-rotate.

scale = 1, rotate = anythign you want.





both have pro's and con's



i'd go with method 1 :)

Thank you. It anwser my question but second solution it much simpler than the first one. I have difficulty with the datum plan. Do you have a suggestion for doumentation about that?
 
Sorry dont have any documentation on it.

there are heaps of tutorials and links to tutorials on this forum.Just do a search :)

I will assume there is a reason not shown why you can't just make a simple cut through the part sketching the geometry at an angle which would be the best way from what I see...


You may think the second way is simpler than the first but you would be wrong.


The first method is almost the way it should be done. You should make your angled datum plane on the fly while creating the feature.


You should learn to create your models with a minimum number of datum planes, axes, and such. Generaly you should only need three datums in a part other than those created on the fly during feature creation. There are exceptions, but good modelers use a minimum number of datum planes, axes, coordinate systems, rotated geometry, mirrored geometry, etc.
