Network Neighboorhood

backoffice

New member
Hi,
I need a help!
When in Pro/ENGINEER, in the menu /File/Open, i select the Network Neighborhood in order to retriev a file in an other station, i find nothing.
I let you know that my PC is collegated to the network and i'm allowed to enter in.
But with Pro/ENGINEER the Network Neiughbohood is empty.
This happens just with Pro/ENGINEER, but with all others softwares, it works well, so i can retrieve my file throw the network.
Is there something wrong??

You can map the network drive to access it. To do that, Go to map network drive, Select any letter, Specify the path of the machine in the network and then it will be connected

If you can't see other computers even through a Windows folder browser, then it's a network configuration issue, not Pro|E. Pro|E only shows what Windows tells it to in that box.

I think you need to contact your IT folks to get your network set up right.

i can enter into the network with windows and see all stations witch are connected to the network as seen in the pic.

i can also enter to the network with microsoft word, catia, and all oter softwares, but not with Pro/ENGINEER.

I'm not a networking expert, but I bet that it's still a network config issue. I bet Pro|E is picky about network configuration or something.

Have you tried mapping a network drive in Windows and browsing by drive letter instead?

While in Windows explorer, left click to highlight the desired computer, then go to "Tools", "Map Network Drive", assign a drive letter to it.

You should now see the drive letter in ProE. If not, re-start ProE and/or Windows.

If you do not have sufficient permissions, you will have to get your IT department to map it for you.

When I pick "Network Neighborhood" in the file open dialog I see all the computers that are on our corporate network just like in Windoz Exploder. I don't have mapped drives to 99% of them.

Sorry Backoffice, I know this doesn't help solve your problem.

Hmmm...I do too.

Well, don't know why he does not see them.

Maybe all his neighbors moved away?

If you use the folder navagation bar to the left of the screen you should be able to see all computers in the network neighborhood.
