Need a Tool Path with sinusoidal Z Axis

To increase tool life I would like to vary the tool path so that the tool tip follows a sine curve rather than the programmed straight line. The cutter would then follow a sewing machine style of path. This would allow the use of the full 100 mm of cutter length rather than just < 25mmworkpiecethickness wearing a groove in the cutter. Possibly a variable Manufacturing Parameter Axis Shift.

I have been working with PTC Tech support on this topic to no avail. Even though anenhancement request has been logged with PTC, a solution to this is not even included inWildfire 5.0.

That is an interesting idea, however you'd (most likely) end up with p2p code with no circular movements.... but again, depending on what you do, it may be just fine.... my .02

A user posted a response to this question on the PTC Exploder in which he created a wavy washercurve for the tool tip to follow in a trajectory sequence. An example *.mfg and supporting files was attached.
