What are some features that NC programmers find useful in their MFG Start Parts or MFG Templates?
<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />
Thanks

Can you be more specific - what exactly you're looking for?

Hey jh

If i'm answering your question correctly, I include the following in my mfg start ass:

1. Solid model of my machine bed
2. Solid models of jigs/fixtures
3. Standard tools/adaptors/mach head with tool assigned to correct pocket
4. Saved Views saved to mfg start.ass
5. (saved within config.pro) Mapkeys assigned that activate specific nc seq operations..

it can save you a lot of time once setup correctly

I have several templates that I use. One each for a 1 head lathe, a 2 head lathe , a 3 axis mill, a 4 axis vertical mill, a 4 axis horizontal mill, a5 axis vertical mill, and a 5 axis horizontal mill.

Within these templates are my start datums, one or more coordinate systems, a retract plane for each coordinate system, layers created for eachrotation,(coordinate system & retract plane), Default parameters setup (ex: part number, operation number, machine to run on, fixture required, and program name). Horzontals also have the pallet and tombstone assembled. Verticals have the indexers assembled.

Use your imagination. Anything that you must constantly do to create your manufacturing assembly should be setup inside your start templates.

I use it to setup everything up to Mfg Geometry and Tool path, ie all of the above, plus Accuracy, Machine, Operation, Post, PPrint, Coordinate System, Retract plane, Pretty much anything that is the same.
