keep command windows on top

hellomoto

New member
Everytime I use the measure tool, the window sometimes disappears. That is, it doesn't stay on top. Is there a config setting that will make the window stay on top of other windows?

New user, Wildfire 2.0, Win XP.

Thx in advance.

Hellomoto,

I don't know that config setting've got options for this.

I think you can use Mapkey funtion.

ProE is not a real Windows application. It uses the XTOP process to communicate with Windows. This works most of the time but there are cases when it defies all rules that apply to Windows. Minimizing all other windows, one by one, can sometimes reveal what has been hidden.

There is also the option to right-click on the Pro?E window & select Lower which will bring another widow to the front, usually the measure window.

I hate to bring up such an old thread, but I am having a very similar problem.

In WF4.0 build M050, when I use Analysis>Model>Mass Properties or Global Interference, the window comes up and I can run the analysis, but as soon as it is complete, the window disappears...along with the information I am seeking.

And by disappear, I don't mean it goes behind the main window. It's gone completely.

Thanks in advance,

Chris

Hi friends,
You can do as following :
1. Tool->Customize Screen-> Click feature you want, keep
and move it on top panel (such as Mass Properties,etc..)
2. In order to keep it appear, you must save this
setting in "TEXT folder" that is in Pro/E installed
folder.
That does it.
Hope this help.

It still is an annoying problem even now with wf4.0 I get the same issues with a couple of windows not just the anaysis. The other one I loose behind pro-e is the "save as" screens when converting drawings etc.

Hi Skint,
When you click "save as" to convert CAD drawing,
sometimes the screen disappears, It's behind main screen
actually. So you just minimize main screen then restore
"save as" screen'll appear again.
I dont know why but it works.

All that does is put an icon on the toolbar. The results are still the same as selecting through the menu. I can start the analysis, but as soon as it is complete, the window disappears. It cannot be retrieved by looking behind the main window or minimizing/maximizing it. Thanks for the idea though.

I also have the same problem with the manufacturing info window in ProNC.

I just read on PTC.com (https://www.ptc.com/appserver/cs/view/solution.jsp?n=142641)that certain mouse drivers can generate problems, so I'm going to play with that a little bit.

OK, turns out I don't do my best work late at night (when I first posted my problem). I was clicking the checkmark in the analysis window, which means run the analysis and close the window (which I guess its useful for regenerating a saved analysis?). I should have clicked the sunglasses instead.

Too bad I didn't realize until after I tried a bunch of stuff; like fiddling with config.pro, installing different mouse and video drivers, rolling back WinXP to SP2 - on two different machines to boot.

Still doesn't explain why the Manufacturing Info window in NC disappears...

also when you do an analysis do not hit the green checkmark if you are doing a quick check, hit the glasses icon. The green check accepts out of the analysis, whereas the glasses icon shows you the results.
