Individual view - layer display

Hello.

I want to specify different layer status for an individual view, to control the display of cosmetic threads.

See attached pics, i want to hide F8 hole cosmetic thread from VIEW 1 anddisplay it in VIEW 2. I select the desired view in the model tree (VIEW1). Then i expand the layer with cosmetic threads and RMB F8 HOLE and HIDE:

View attachment 5171

and the result:

View attachment 5172

The cosmetic thread also is hidden in VIEW 2.... why?

When you hide a layer you hide it in the model which is reflected in all views. You need to select view1, RMB, select "edge display...", erase line and then select the lines that you do not want to see. This will hide the lines in that view only.

In this case in may be easier to simply select no hidden line and HLR for quilts.

If you absolutely have to use hidden lines on a view, you can do this with layers. Go into the layer window and select Settings; Layer Status Control. Check both boxes (Ignore Display status or Layer in model, change display of model layers with the same name in drawing only), Then OK.

Now, select the appropriate view, make sure it's listed in the box at the top of the layers window. You can modify layers as needed for that view.

Now, to change it back to follow the drawing, Select the view you want to change, RMB on Layers, select Copy status from... and you can select Drawing, Model, or View depending on what is selected.

The specific actions taken, selected the specific thread and copied it to the hidden items layer. This impacted the entire drawing.

To exclude all threads on layer A_THREAD_FEATURE from showing in VIEW1:

Select VIEW1 in the drop down (same as was done)
Then select the layer A_THREAD_FEATURE and choose hide.

This will hide all the threads on that layer in that view.

If you wish to hide a single thread such as F8(HOLE_3), an additional layer will need to be created containing only F8(hole_3).

You have lots of good advice here. I just have one question. How are you going to produce that flat bottomed hole?

Thank you all for you answers.

srieger: I tried the steps but the behaviour is the same
I mentioned before. It works when I hide the layer
itself.

gkbeer: it works, but I had to rename features because
the real part has got many holes and it makes the
selection easier.

Roger: it is not a flat bottomed hole, the view does not
display hidden lines.

Many thanks for your tips. Now i am waiting what PTC says
to the call i made regarding this issue...

I managed to control cosmetic thread display this way:

hlr_for_threads yes
thread_standard std_iso_imp_assy

makes my life easier
