Imported Model Change

Jamie White

New member
Hi there, I have imported a IGES file of a hollow part. I was hoping there was a way to make it a solid part.

Thanks

Jamie,

The model needs to be "water tight" to be converted to a solid. That means that any gaps in the surfaces will need to be healed. If the surfaces still cannot be healed, then use the surfacing tools to close the gaps (example: fill or boundary).

If multiple surfaces exist, then knit them together into one surface. Lastly, use the thicken command and select the option "make solid" to solidify the surface into a solid. I find that STEP files typically import better than IGES files

In Pro-E, there are options to adjust the accuracy for importing. A similar option may exist in SW but I usually have success healing the faces.
