I have few issues in Intralink8

Hi Folks,

Im using Intralink8 for last 6months. I have some issues

1. Where is workspace stored?

2. How to get the previous version files ?

3. How to change the table settings ?

4. If I rename a file in the Workspace its creating another copy same like save a copy with different name. How to get rid of these?

5. The most important thing is ProE crashes often.

1) Client side workspace is normally stored at:


<C:>\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ptc\cache


I think this is the default storage location unless the environment variable PTC_WF_CACHE is set.


It is recommend to use this variable since the default location is greater than 64bytes. I have been told that this is not good working practice due to the long folder path and the fact there are spaces in the path.


2) How to get previous version files: In the Information page of a search, there is an 'Iteration History' button to the left hand side of the screen. You can use this to view all previous versions of the file, and then, if necessary you can add one of these eralier version files using the 'As Stored' configuration during your 'add to workspace'. Otherwise, the earlier version file will be added but its dependants will likely be the latest versions in the Commonspace which you may not necessarily want.


3) Renaming a file in session and saving will create a copy of that file in your workspace. Renaming a file in your workspace that hasn't been checked-in will only do that.


4) It is possible to retrieve work from corrupt workspaces by locating the client-side file in the cache (e.g. lid_16585.wfcont) and renaming to a .prt or .asm convention before opening through another workspace. Tedious but effective if a lot of time has been spent.


5) Can't help you with point 5.

I got some more queries

1. I want to have the old version files which is in the workspace not checked in the common space. For example the file is created newly in the workspace.

2. ProE Crashes mostly when IM working in Intralink only, it works normal when I work outside intralink.
