How to set color inside a sketched area

I'm creating a paint masking drawing and have a few areas I need to show as a different color than the base part. How can I define a specific area on a given surface that is a different color than the rest of the surface? I can't use the surface modeling tools as the part in question is a solid model.

You can create a protrusion that is only .001 tall and change the color on that surf. You can also sketch the area as a curve and in your drawing select the curves, RMB and choose hatch/fill and hatch the area that will be different.

Use datum sketch instead of cosmetic sketch.Create your sketch and exit. Then Edit Definition of the sketch and under the Sketch / Sketch Setup you'll get the Sketch dialog.Click the Properties tab and you can X-Hatch it (this is grayed out when you originally create the sketch, thus Edit Definition). You don't get immediate update of the hatching so you'll just have to guess on spacing.I use 1 for a fill.Once you exit the sketch you'll see the X-Hatch.

Under System Colors, the cross hatching is controlled by the Text color so I don't know that you can selectively change the color. It's all or none.<BR itxtNodeId="180"><BR itxtNodeId="179"><tg>

The above workaround works well for drawings. If you want to have different colours in your 3D part without unsing offset surfaces, the only way is to actually split the surface as explained here at the bottom of the page:

as far a I know it is not possible to make hatched sketches in modeller that can be modified as in drawing mode (with WF4).
