How to make map keys in Creo 2

James, thanks for the reply. I have had zero training on Creo 2. I got a copy to play with and I guess I need to wait until we get some kind of training.

No problem. The Creo search box is really handy. Lots of older tutorials can still be utilized in Creo 1 and up. Getting used to the new interface and finding the feature/function used in previous version of Pro/E will be the hardest part but the search bar works well for that.

To help in making mapkeys look at the Trail.txt.## files
which will be created in your start-up directory. These
files contain a record of all icon and menu pics as well
as all the spin pan zoom operations done with mouse or
Spaceball/Pilot.

When you pick an icon ribbon or not the command name
is saved to the trailfile and in the config.pro for
recorded mapkeys. When creating mapkeys the first
thing you specify is the command string like "idp" a
nickname and a description. I believe the Description can
be from 1-256 chars and the name is 20 or so not exact as
of writing. 256 may be the max length per line in the
config.pro which you will notice if editing the name for
the mapkey through the config dialog. Mapkey strigs can
only be edited from the config.pro in a text editor or
from Tools options , selecting the mapkey abc line and
retyping the beginning string.

You can insert pauses but there are certain stupid
restrictions using the mapkey recorder. For instance to
make a mapkey to create a drawing with the same name
as your part you can go to File Save as. Pause then tell
user to Copy Paste the Name from the rename dialog then
hit Resume to close the rename and create a new file
then pause and have user paste in ther name in the File >
New > Drawing dialog..

Tools > Mapkeys New
If you need further specifics feel free to respond. I will
look for informative posts in this and other forums and
try to post them here.
