How to find the Generic of an Instance?

Hi,

Hoping someone has a solution to this one:

If I have an instance open, is there a shortcut to opening the generic? I would love a button named "open generic of this instance" but I am having trouble finding it. I know I can do a "model info" to see the generic name, I just want a faster method (as always =)

Anyone?

Not as easy as clicking in the model tree and RMB but the best I know of:

If you set the config.pro option display_full_object_path YES it will show the generic name (and path) in the top of the window border. Then if you do file/open and select in memory you just have to find the correct name in the list.

I sent in an enhancement request for this more than once, everyone should do likewise. PTC does a lousy job of providing useful contex sensitive pop up menus for things like this that anyone who used the software for a day would come up with.

I suspected that was the case and I totally agree with you when it comes to simple solutions and enhancements to every-day work -it simply never happens (default values for 'clean dims' anyone?). Anyway, I will not start to rant. Thanks to dr_gallup.

If you have the instance open, you can use File -> Open, and click on the computer icon to show all files currently in memory - one of them will be the generic of the instance.
