How to assemble the pin of a sliding linkage into a slot?

Need to see the linkage at several positions while its pin slides within the controlling slot. How do I assemble them and then be able to move the slide and pin. Do I need to make extra datum planes?

Please help!

If you are in 2001 or Wildfire you can use Joints instead of the Fixed Constraints. You will need an axis that you want to slide along as well as an axis in the pin that matches it, and Use a slider as the joint. Once you do that you can go to the mechanism menu and set limits on the Joint .... Now you can use fixed constraints a datum on the fly to move it in increments, of finish in mechanism. If you send me the files I can look at it....
