How do you measure wire length on a spring model

I am creating a complex helical spring and would like to measure what the wire length would need to be. Is there a way to do this?

if you are creating your spring with a curve you can measure the length of the curve and add it as a analysis

I am using the helical feature of pro/e 2001 and measuring the curve does not seem to work? ?

For a close approximation you could divide the spring volume by the cross-sectional area.

You could try a surface copy of the coils, create a composite curve from the edge of the surface, then measure the curve length.
